Maine has 64 public airports, 15 of which accommodate corporate jets. Commercial passenger service is available through airports in Augusta, Bangor, Bar Harbor, Portland, Presque Isle & Rockland. Bangor and Portland are international airports. Portland International Jetport offers a number of convenient 45-minute flights to and from Boston’s Logan airport and 80-minute flights to and from New York’s LaGuardia airport and Newark airport daily. Direct passenger and cargo service is provided to Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York City, Newark, Orlando, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.
Bangor International Airport offers one of the largest ports-of-entry on the eastern seaboard. It also has the widest runway on the East Coast (an alternate landing facility for the space shuttle), a 33-acre foreign trade zone and transatlantic cargo to many European destinations, direct air container service to and from the UK and Netherlands, full Customs clearance, and non-stop service to Atlanta, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Detroit, Newark, and Minneapolis (seasonal).
